Morning Tide
Rockpools and reflections
| This painting explores the shifting surface of water where light, colour and movement continually change what lies beneath. Layers of aqua, deep turquoise and luminous gold create an almost fluid landscape, while fragments of soft pink and white appear to float, scatter and dissolve across the surface.
The composition moves diagonally through the canvas, creating a sense of water flowing and light breaking across its surface. Fleeting forms emerge from the layers and disappear again, blurring the boundary between reflection, landscape and abstraction. For me, the work is about those moments when we pause beside water and become absorbed by what is happening on its surface—the shimmer of light, the movement of reflections and the fragments of the landscape appearing and disappearing beneath them. It invites you to slow down and look beyond the obvious, allowing your own memories and interpretations to emerge within the layers. |
