When the Billabong Dreams

Description:

This work sits at the intersection of landscape and memory. Layers of translucent pinks, corals, violets and soft whites gather across the canvas like reflections moving across still water.

Forms appear and disappear—suggestive of reeds, lilies and distant tree trunks—inviting the viewer to linger and discover what lies beneath. The strong horizon line anchors the composition, while the field of colour below becomes a meditation on light, movement and time.

This is part of my continuing exploration of the billabong near my Albury home, this painting speaks less of place and more of feeling: that fleeting moment when a familiar landscape is transformed by season, weather, or memory.

It is a work of optimism and wonder, offering a space to pause, breathe and drift into another realm
