Where the Eucalypts Bend
Where the Eucalypts Bend explores the quiet complexity of the Australian bush through a close encounter with eucalyptus foliage and delicate hanging blossoms. Against a deep, almost nocturnal ground, the leaves move between turquoise, blue-green and violet, their layered surfaces revealing texture, weathering and fragments of colour.
Fine branches weave through the composition, connecting the individual leaves and blossoms like a network of quiet gestures. The strong vertical rhythm of the foliage is balanced by the delicate, suspended flowers, creating both movement and stillness.
Rather than describing the landscape literally, the painting offers an intimate experience of being within it. The darkness creates a sense of depth and refuge, while the luminous foliage draws the eye slowly through the layers.
It is a painting about looking closely, slowing down and finding quiet within the complexity of the Australian landscape.
